The Closet Den Emergency Appeal

Event Date: 28 Jul 2011

My Personal Message

'A Somalian mother aches as her 4 year old son faints from lack of nourishment. She knows she must act now for her son to live out the month. She gets wind of a refugee camp, but it will take nearly 40 days to walk to. With her son in hand, she begins the dangerous trek through sweltering heat. As the days pass she begins to see the path increasingly scattered with those who could not press on any further. After 37 days she reaches the camp. Her wave of relief is immediately washed away by devastating news. The camp has run out of provisions. She stares into her son’s oblivious eyes and weeps helplessly as the inevitable approaches.'

TheClosetDen is back and ready to raise as much money as possible for WJR's East Africa Crisis appeal. We've extending our prize draw for a few more days so that we can reach our target.

As I'm sure you know, famine has officially been declared in Somalia as the worst droughts in 60 years hit East Africa. Tens of thousands have already died and aid is desperately needed.

TheClosetDen is desperately trying to raise more funds for the Kenyan RED CROSS and UNICEF Kenya and UNICEF Ethiopia, through WJR, to provide -

25 metric tonnes of UNIMIX (a high energy corn soya blend product) providing 2,700 children with a supplementary (possibly their only) meal, for 6 months

15,000 sachets of high protein peanut paste for severely malnourished displaced children. This will enable us to support 200 children for a month
